Free-Floating Plant
Azolla is a small, free-floating aquatic fern that grows on the surface of ponds. It’s known for its rapid growth. Azolla thrives in full sun but can also tolerate partial shade. In Western Australia, especially during hot summers, it may benefit from some shade during peak afternoon heat to avoid stress or turning reddish due to intense light. Fish will eat Azolla too, but it tends to last longer than duckweed since it’s thicker and tougher.
Azolla is sold in bags for $5.00.
