Free-Floating Plant
Duckweed is a tiny, free-floating aquatic plant. It consists of tiny green fronds and a single root, forming dense mats that help reduce algae and absorb excess nutrients. Duckweed generally prefers full sun but benefits from partial shade during peak summer heat. The intense midday sunlight, especially in Perth’s hot summers, can stress the plant. If you're using duckweed in a tank or pond, it can double as both food and filtration. If putting it in with Goldfish or Koi just know they munch through it enthusiastically.
Duckweed is sold in bags for $5.00. It's a great plant for providing shelter and nutrients to your fish.
